Ways to donate: Putting the fun in fundraising

Supporting Shir Hadash doesn’t just mean joining our congregation or sending a check to one of our funds. We encourage you to do both of those things, of course, but you can also show your support for Shir Hadash by doing things that you would do anyway, like listening to music. You also can:

Go shopping

You can help Shir Hadash by shopping at Pick 'n Save. Sign up for the Advantage Saver's Club "We Care" Program, identifying Congregation Shir Hadash as the organization to receive the donation.

Our account number is 127225. Stop by the service counter at any Pick 'n Save store and fill out a Saver's Club card application. (Forms also may be available at our synagogue.) If you already have a Saver's Club card, complete a "change" form.

Shir Hadash will receive a check from Pick 'n Save on a quarterly basis, based on the amount of purchases made by those who have designated us as their organization. Pick'n Save does not sell its list of cardholders or information to any other organizations.

Go out

Each fall, Shir Hadash School sells Entertainment Books, loaded with coupons thatcan be redeemed for discounts -- at entertainment venues, restaurants, etc. -- that will soon pay for the cost of the book. The coupons are effective Nov. 1.Each book costs $35; the congregation gets $7 of that.

Every family needs one of these around the house. Tell your friends and get their orders too. They also make great gifts.

Spend money

Shir Hadash is now registered for Escrip, a program that will allow Shir Hadash to receive 2% to 7% of the purchase cost when members make their purchases at specific places (e.g., Office Max, Eddie Bauer, Delta, American Airlines, Working Assets). Non-members who wish to support Shir Hadash can also register. Our correct Group ID for Shir Hadash is 155484201.

Participation requires you to register the credit cards that you will be using to make purchases. This information is used to track the amount of your purchases so it can be determined what percent will be contributed to Shir Hadash. A member who has used this program for an extended period found no problems with security related to credit-card registration.

To register, you need to:

1. Go to the Escrip website at www.escrip.com.
2. Click on “sign up.”
3. Enter our group name (Congregation Shir Hadash or the Group ID above)
4. Click on the Congregation Shir Hadash with the Milwaukee address (there is also a Shir Hadash in California)
5. Register the credit cards you will be using to make purchases

When you register your credit card, the first screen will ask for names of credit or club cards related to specific stores. If you do not have such a card, leave it blank and go to the next screen which will give you choices of credit cards such as Visa and Master Card.

GoodSearch

How does GoodSearch work?

• On the GoodSearch homepage (www.goodsearch.com), In the "Who do you GoodSearch for?" box, type in Shir Hadash School and then click "verify".
• Search the Internet just like you normally would — the site is powered by Yahoo!, so you'll get high-quality search results.
• Fifty percent of the revenue generated from advertisers is shared with the school.

What about GoodShop?

Simply go to www.goodsearch.com and click on the GoodShop link or go to www.goodshop.com. In the "Who do you GoodShop for?" box, type in Shir Hadash School and then click "verify".

Next, click through to the partner retailers and start shopping! A percentage of your purchase will go to our school.

Drink coffee and tea

Three or four times a year, Shir Hadash sells the delicious coffees and teas made available from a local company, Alterra. Alterra has been very supportive of Shir Hadash, donating coffee to numerous functions in the past, and has now made their delicious beverages available for fundraising. Truly a win/win situation!
