Starting youngLearning with fun & family
Since September 2005, the youngest of our Shir Hadashniks -- and their parents -- have been meeting twice monthly for interactive learning sessions. The sessions took place in Shir families' homes for the first school year, but have moved to the Milwaukee Jewish Day School in fall 2006. Our classes focus on Jewish holidays and themes, with an introduction to the Hebrew "Alef Bet." Each lesson features songs, stories, art and lively discussion. Each session, the children perform the mitzvah of giving tzedakah and will donate the money to an agreed-upon charity at the end of the school year. Children and parents are encouraged to ask questions and share thoughts. Children range from kindergarten through 2nd grade, yet the instructor is able to personalize the lessons to each child's developmental need and learning style. Classes are scheduled through May each year. In addition to the regular Sunday classes, students are welcome to join the monthly Shabbat youth services conducted for our integrated Hebrew and Judaica program. Contact us for more information or to register your child for classes. Beth Draper is the instructor for this class.
